Greg and Hannes Leonard make up the core father/son team living the dream of racing their Class 40 Kite.

Greg has many years and thousands of miles racing his J/120 Heron along the East Coast of the United States and back and forth to Bermuda. Racing in the Class 40 fleet with Kite marks a chance to up his game.

Hannes had almost no choice but to be a sailor. Born during the week between fall sailing season and frostbiting, he was already “taking the helm” at six months. He had his first ocean passage at 6, a Bermuda delivery at 8, and began racing in earnest with the Heron crew when he was ten-years-old. He embraces this new challenge with all the enthusiasm, curiosity, and strength of youth.
